On Monday May 4th, 2009, Council President Arthur Scott took the Oath of Office of Mayor and will continue representing the City of Streetsboro until an election can be held in November 2009 to fill the remaining two years of the term left by the prior Mayor due to his resignation.
Having served on City Council for almost two terms, Mayor Scott was elected Council President in January 2009. He has held a position on the Finance Committee and served as a Planning Commissioner over the years.
Mayor Arthur Scott has had a family presence in the City of Streetsboro for 48 years and has lived here with the love of his life Dawn since 1995. Together they have been blessed with 6 children and 7 grandchildren with another soon to arrive. He is a proud supporter of the military having both served his Country and having sons both active and retired in several branches of service. Mayor Scott is a cabinet maker and trim carpenter by trade and has owned a local business for almost a decade. Mayor Scott is an active member and secretary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4300. This last year he was instrumental along, with the FOE 4300, in supporting Streetsboro schools by donating to the school lunch program. He has devoted his time and efforts for the Wal-Mart Car Show for 15 years (proceeds of which went towards Christmas gifts for under privileged children in the area). He has been active with the Streetsboro Family Days since the beginning.
Mayor Scott has implemented an open-door policy. He welcomes all citizens with concerns to stop in and speak with him. The Mayor feels that everyone has a voice and should be heard.
