Census Bureau is Hiring in Portage County

The U.S. Census Bureau's Detroit Regional Census Center is in the throes of an intense recruitment drive. Everyone seeking jobs in the Portage County area can call 330-639-2870 to schedule a 30 minute test or visit www.census.gov/detroit for a list of job descriptions, pay and practice tests.

"We need people who want to serve their community and who can hiot the ground running." Said Regional Director Dwight Dean. Hundreds of people are needed to work in the field to verify addresses, update address lists and collect data from area residents and work with local officials to ensure an accurate count.

The positions available include Enumerator (census taker), Crew Leader and Crew Leader Assistant. Pay for the carious temporary positions ranges from $10.74 to 18.00 per hour plus mileage reimbursement. Hours are flexible and training is paid.

Application site in Portage County include: Portage County Library in Garrettsville, Portage County Senior Center, Portage Workforce Connection, Streetsboro Teen Center and Town Hall II in Kent.
