STREETSBORO — The city of Streetsboro and Shelly Materials Inc. are on the cusp of finalizing the settlement of a lawsuit over sand and gravel mining that dates back to 2016 and was taken all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court.
The dispute started in 2016 when the Streetsboro Planning and Zoning Commission rejected Shelly’s application for a conditional zoning permit, which would have enabled the company to extract sand and gravel from a portion of the 292-acre Sahbra Farms located at the corner of Route 14 and Diagonal Road.
Numerous court battles and decisions ended with the Ohio Supreme Court remanding the case back to the 11th District Court of Appeals in the fall of 2019 and declining to hear a motion to reconsider earlier this year.
